Detention Order
Güzelyurt Accident Court issued 5 days of additional detention for A.Ş., S.G., K.D., and Ş.K. who were arrested as part of the investigation conducted at Cyprus Health and Social Sciences University.
Court Proceedings
The trial, which began at around 12.15 in the Güzelyurt Accident Court in front of Judge Gülay Uğur, lasted approximately 4 hours. The investigation officer Ortunç Özbaylı testified at the trial, revealing the suspects' involvement in obtaining fraudulent funds amounting to 2 million 129 thousand TL, 111 thousand 986 pounds, 156 thousand 346 euros, and 453 thousand 476 dollars from the university.
Allegations Against the Suspects
Özbaylı provided information on the fraudulent activities of the suspects, such as A.Ş. registering individuals to the country through the university and manipulating records to obtain money fraudulently. S.G. was accused of deleting email and WhatsApp correspondences of some university employees, and was found in possession of invoices, collection receipts, and 10 thousand dollars in cash.
Financial Irregularities
Further investigations revealed that K.D. issued 19 invoices to 6 companies amounting to 926 thousand 286 TL without receiving any services. Similarly, Ş.K. received payments of 55 thousand pounds and 750 thousand TL without providing any services through his company.
